Brief excursion

There was only enough food in the flat for one so I left it for the GF and went out for a short stroll and to bring myself back some lunch. I found a new street in Galata, one running parallel to Papadopoulous where the GF and I once viewed a very crumbling flat in what was once a very beautiful building. This new street was quite pretty, with what looked like some design studios and the like, but very quiet of course. Off one corner, by the stairs leading down to the main road, was my chosen lunch spot, an Indonesian restaurant. So I ordered, strolled a bit and looked at some shops (including one called ‘Good Design’ which turned out to actually be a cafe), collected my lunch and returned to the flat as, of course, dining in is not allowed these days.

It was ok, like a somewhat mediocre version of the street food I often got for lunch at KL. But it was nice to have some eastern flavours after so long. I was thinking of nasi lemak; this was ayam geprek: no nasi lemak, but with fried chicken and an impressively fierce sambal, though I ordered it at 7 heat (you could get 3, 7 or 10, for reasons that are unclear to me). Well, I shall try a few more things there and it’s good to have something non-Turkish with a bit of fire so close by.

And now back to work. It’s going to be a tough few weeks.
